Presentation
LuceneSearch is the most powerful search engine for DotNetNuke. Based on the widely recognized information retrieval library Lucene, it replaces the native search engine to extend its capabilities and complete the areas in which it's lacking. It also gives you a greater control over the search UI on your site. Recently equipped with an intuitive auto-complete frame, Lucene Search makes all your portal contents super accessible to your visitors. LuceneSearch is the best module to search your modules.

Change the DNN Search for LuceneSearch
Extend
The native Dotnetnuke search only takes into account a limited number of fields to search on.
LuceneSearch adds a lot of info to its index: page title, module title, taxonomy... The search range for any searchable module is immediately increased and your searches can be much more meaningful. Just like that!
For modules that don't use the standard DotNetNuke procedures, you can create custom providers to fill in the index with the correct parameters instead of the default parameters LuceneSearch uses. For example, many modules don't use the DotNetNuke Taxonomy system yet.
What if a module doesn't expose its search data the way you want? You can completely change that with a custom provider.
Complete
LuceneSearch offers the possibility to manage the modules you'd like to search from scratch.
Do you have a useful module that is not searchable? With a custom provider, you can explain to LuceneSearch what information should be displayed without modifying the module, adding search capabilities from outside the module.
The nature of the data does not matter. Lucene comes with a component that is able to search the content from pdf and office files on the portal file system and you can write plugins to the system that will query whichever datasource you want and let you add the results to your website's search engine.
LuceneSearch can immediately integrate pdf documents on your portal in your search results. If you have the correct tools installed it can also read the content of office files directly.
Display
Search results are nothing if not correctly displayed to your users.
LuceneSearch lets you define how your search interface looks, from search criteria to search results. You can help your users by tailoring the search interface you want.
Every element that you could search on can be displayed and formatted to fit your needs. You can also provide highlights of the document you're presenting to the user to show him where his search terms are spotted.
Add the LuceneSearch skin object to your interface and harness the search engine with the first integrated autocomplete on DotNetNuke.
A Google-like experience
Lucene Search uses the renowned open source technology Lucene.Net which powers multiple award-winning platforms such as Wikipedia. It has an extended API similar to Google Advanced Search engine, making every search a Google-like-experience.
Texts, hot news, forum posts, galleries, photos and videos, Office and PDF documents... In the twinkling of an eye, get the 10 best hits for your search within the autocomplete window. Click a result to access the corresponding page on your portal. Click the magnyfying glass to narrow down your search via the advanced research interface.
